Taking place at Melford Antiques, Interiors and Lifestyle Centre on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May at 2:30pm, both concerts are free to attend but charitable donations are appreciated.

Cavendish

Today we’d like to share with you a series of prints celebrating the quintessentially picturesque village of Cavendish in Suffolk. These cards feature the historic 14th-15th century St Mary the Virgin’s Church and cottages, listed by Simon Jenkins as “One of England’s thousand best churches”. The church’s Two-manual Pipe Organ dates from 1884 and was made by Henry Jones and sons, and a plaque in honour of local philanthropists Sue Ryder and Leinard Cheshire is to be found in the church.

A Saxon church on this spot was mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086, and Sir Richard Cavendish of Richard II’s era was connected with the village. Annual fetes are held on the green pictured here.

As always, copies of all cards and prints are available from selected outlets and the full range can be found on our art images page.
